Important context
Educational disclaimer
This calculator provides general educational estimates. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition. It does not recommend medication changes, insulin doses, or individualized glucose targets.
Mifflin-St Jeor and activity multipliers are population-based equations. They can overestimate or underestimate individual energy needs. General estimates can be less applicable during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, for highly trained athletes, during illness or recovery, and for people with kidney disease, eating disorders, or other conditions requiring specialized nutrition care.
Carbohydrate needs and meal timing can be affected by insulin, medicines that can cause low blood sugar, physical activity, and other health circumstances. Review major changes with your physician, registered dietitian, pharmacist, or diabetes care team.
If you experience symptoms of severe low or high blood sugar or another medical emergency, seek urgent medical help.
